Abstract

This study aims to improve the group discussion skills of fourth grade students of SD Negeri 96 Kaur through the application of the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) model in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning, especially on worship material. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which consists of two cycles, with each cycle including the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were 30 fourth grade students of SD Negeri 96 Kaur in the 2023/2024 academic year. Data were collected through observation, tests, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that the application of the TSTS model significantly improved students' group discussion skills. In the pre-cycle, only 36% of students achieved the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM), with an average class score of 65. After cycle I, the percentage of students achieving KKM increased to 64% with an average class score of 72. In cycle II, the percentage of students achieving KKM increased to 86%, with an average class score of 80. This increase occurred because the TSTS model provided opportunities for students to share information, discuss actively, and learn from peers. In addition, the implementation of the TSTS model also increased student engagement during the learning process. Thus, the TSTS model is effectively used as a learning strategy to improve students' group discussion skills on Islamic Religious Education material.
