Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the efforts of social studies teachers in the implementation of character education at SMP Negeri 15 Kota Bengkulu. This study used a qualitative research design with a descriptive tife. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 15 Kota Bengkulu. Data were collected by in-depth inteviews, document analysis and observation. The data analysis was carried out using Milleas & Huberman’s Interactive Model, which consists of three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclution. Based on the research that has been done, the following results were fount: 1) social studies teachers view that character education is important to be implemented in social studies learning in order to instill values in students; 2) there are five main values that teachers instill in social studies learning, namely honesty, responsibility, social care, tolerance and nationalism; 3) the implementation of character education in social studies learning has a positive impact in the form of changes in student behavior and the creation of more meaningful learning.
