Indonesian Journal of Character Education Studies (IJCES) is an open-access academic journal published periodically to provide a platform for researchers, scholars, professionals, practitioners, lecturers, counselors, and university students to share, advance, and disseminate state-of-the-art research findings in the field of character education. The journal aims to disseminate high-quality research findings, support evidence-based theory and practice, and provide an academic platform for exploring, sharing, and discussing critical ideas, strategic and contemporary issues, innovations, global trends, implications, and scientific contributions in the field of character education.

FOCUS AND SCOPE 
Indonesian Journal of Character Education Studies (IJCES) focuses on investigating critical ideas, strategic and contemporary issues, global trends, evidence-based theory and practice, as well as innovations and developments (novelties) in the field of character education. IJCES accepts original manuscripts in the form of research articles, literature reviews, conceptual papers, case studies, and technical papers related to character education, including but not limited to the following areas:
  • Character Education Models and Approaches: It covers various models and approaches in character education that aim to develop moral values, ethics, and positive attitudes in individuals, both in formal and non-formal education. The focus is on theory, practice, and implementation to shape students' character, enabling them to live responsibly, morally, and ethically.
  • Character Education Practices in Schools, Higher Education, Families, and Communities: This scope discusses the approaches and practices of character education in various contexts, including schools, higher education, families, and communities, with a focus on effective implementation to shape moral values, ethics, and positive behaviors in individuals at different stages of life.
  • Frameworks, Policies, and Development of Character Education: This scope discusses the frameworks and policies that underpin the development of character education, as well as their impact on teaching and shaping students' character. The primary focus is on how education systems, both national and international, design and implement policies that support character education to shape individuals with strong moral and ethical values.
  • Core Values (Pillars) of Character Education: This scope discusses the core values or pillars that form the foundation of character education. The main focus is on how values such as honesty, responsibility, and respect are applied and developed in the educational process to shape a well-rounded and balanced character.
  • Character Education Based on Cultural Values and Local Wisdom: This scope discusses the integration of cultural values and local wisdom into character education to shape individuals with strong character who also appreciate, preserve, and apply these values and wisdom in daily life. The main focus is on how local cultural values and traditions are incorporated into education systems to strengthen students' identity and morality.
  • Character Education, Moral Values, and Ethics: This scope discusses the relationship between character education, moral values, and ethics in shaping individuals with integrity, responsibility, and the ability to make ethical decisions. The main focus is on teaching moral values that underpin ethical behavior and how character education helps students develop a moral understanding in their daily lives.
  • Innovative Pedagogical Approaches to Character Education: This scope discusses innovative pedagogical approaches in character education aimed at strengthening moral, ethical, and social values in students. The main focus is on creative and effective teaching methods, along with the use of technology and new approaches to optimize character education across various contexts.
  • Grand Design and Future Directions in Character Education: This scope discusses the grand design and future directions of character education, including innovations, global trends, and challenges in its development across various education systems. The main focus is on formulating long-term strategies and policies for character education, as well as examining how technological advancements, social changes, and cultural dynamics will influence its future shape and direction.
  • Contemporary Issues, Global Trends, and Challenges in Character Education: This scope discusses contemporary issues, global trends, and challenges in character education, focusing on the factors that influence character education today and how social, cultural, and technological trends impact the development of students' character across various educational systems.
  • Anti-Corruption Education: This scope discusses anti-corruption education as an integral part of character education, aimed at shaping individuals with high integrity, social awareness, and a commitment to justice and transparency. The main focus is on how anti-corruption education is incorporated into the curriculum to teach students the importance of honesty, responsibility, and ethics in both their personal and professional lives.

IJCES adopts the Scopus Journal Subject Classification (ASJC) system to organize and categorize research topics. By following the ASJC system, IJCES ensures that its content is clearly structured, making it easier for authors to access and utilize information relevant to the Focus and Scope of IJCES.

BEFORE SUBMISSION: The author must ensure that the manuscript has been prepared using the IJCES template and adheres to the author guidelines. The manuscript should also be thoroughly proofread, similarity-checked, and confirmed to be free of plagiarism (supplementary files may be attached during the submission process). The author must upload an Authorship Form signed by all contributing authors. Any manuscript that does not comply with the author guidelines or falls outside the journal’s focus and scope will be rejected immediately. Only manuscripts that meet IJCES’s standards will be considered for further review.  Registration and Login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

EDITORIAL PROCESS: IJCES follows a double-blind peer-review to ensure academic integrity, quality, and originality. Manuscripts are screened for relevance, originality, and alignment with the journal's scope and ethics, then reviewed by the editorial team and peer reviewers for quality. The process ensures fair, objective, and consistent evaluation
